The Kangaroo Kid came off the bench for the Sixers during the early part of his career. He helped the ’67 Sixers win a then-record 68 games. He put up 17 and seven playing 27 minutes per game. Those are pretty much starter’s numbers. And it helped that he was playing with the likes of a Wilt Chamberlain and Hal Greer, you know, a couple Hall of Famers by his side. Teams that bring guys like Cunningham off the bench usually contend and they surely did that for a long period of time.
